Claim Your Free Online Listings

We spent a couple of hours using Get Listed to claim and update our business listings. It’s easy to get started. Just go to the website https://getlisted.org/ type in the name of your business and your zip code. The utility will search to find your business and take you to a results page. This page shows your:

  • Missing Listings – where your business could not be found on the listing providers. The more places your listing information is available and accurate, the easier it is for customers to find you – so sign up with the listing providers and create your listing.
  • Unclaimed Listings – shows providers that have generated data about your business, but you have not claimed ownership of the listings. It’s time to claim your listing and update your information.
  • Found Listings – is a review of all your listings that appeared to be claimed by your business. It’s important to review them to ensure that your information is accurate and consistent across the web.

Get listed also has a “reviews” tab that displays reviews it found online about your business as well as a “to do” tab that lists simple to-do's to enhance and expand your listings on the listing provider pages.

Low Hanging Fruit

Get Listed is a convenient way to capture some not so obvious low hanging fruit. You can register and update your listings on 16 listing services in a couple of hours. Every listing has your business name, website, contact information and address, if you want it made public. The listing sites all had free listings and some offered premium upgrades as well. Most of the listing sites will have you create an account that you have to validate through various methods. We recommend creating a sheet to hold your user names and passwords as you register with the listing sites.
You will be asked by some listing sites to write about your business, so keep your elevator speech on your password sheet so you can copy, paste and edit it as required. Some of the listing sites let you post pictures and reviews too.

So Get Listed!

So what are you waiting for, time to get listed! Spend a couple of hours one morning, evening, or weekend to take control of your online listings. Grab the easy low hanging search engine fruit to get listed and get found online. Once you're done, don’t forget to check back every month to GetListed.org and run another report. The reports give you an overall listing score which you can try to improve plus a “To Do” list tab, complete with suggestions on how to keep improving your listings!
